Do you struggle to read your Bible?

Do you struggle to read your Bible? Don’t worry, you aren’t the only one. I’m pretty sure that every Christian have struggled with this before, including me, and it’s okay! Don’t fall in the guilt trap, it is not from God. The annoying religious spirit has all of us thinking that we HAVE to read the Bible, but when you realise that you don’t HAVE to - you aren’t forced to, that it is your choice and you want to - it changes everything.

When you realise that you want to fill yourself with the Word of God, with the TRUTH, so that you will be able to discern the lies of the enemy. You realise that you want to know God more intimately, you want to know the blessings, the danger zones, you want wisdom, you want to feel loved and know what love is, you want to know how to live a righteous life and you want to bear fruit.

Realising that we don’t have to, but that you actually want to, makes the devil powerless. He will try everything to keep us from reading the Word of God, because he knows the power in doing it.

The next time you feel like “ugh…” - struggling to get up early or staying awake at night to read the Bible, stop for a minute and just realise that you WANT to, you don’t have to - and tell the devil, “I want to read the Bible, I’m not doing it because I have to, so get out of here!”.

As soon as we make that mind shift, the motive of our hearts are upright and pure, and then we can read it and enjoy it.

Before you start reading, pray about it and invite the Holy Spirit in, ask that He will teach you, show you the hidden truths and give you understanding when reading it.

A wise friend of mine once said, “Read it like a book, each time it will become easier to read and understand, so don’t worry if you don’t understand everything right now”, and that is exactly what I started doing. I took the Bible just like any other book and started reading it. And just a side note - I am loving it (to read it like a story) and I am learning so much!
