A compliment a day...

A compliment a day, an encouraging or kind word, speaking into someone’s worth and identity, can and will change lives and relationships.

If it is your husband, boyfriend, girlfriend, colleague, child, friend – it doesn’t matter. Start speaking blessing, truth, encouragement, worth – whatever it is that they need - into their lives. Or just out of love – even when they don’t necessarily NEED it, or if we think they don’t – we can all do with more uplifting words spoken over us.

Sometimes we tell the world how amazing someone is, but we never tell them. Just like we testify about all the amazing things God is doing in our lives, but we forget to actually thank Him. Do the people in your life know all the amazing things you say and feel about them? I’ve learned out of experience that when we think someone surely knows how amazing or talented they are (or whatever it may be), they very often do. We see people different to how they see themselves, and the same counts for us. Other’s see us differently that we see ourselves, and what is obvious to them is sometimes something we really didn’t think about ourselves – but needed to know.

Encouraging, affectionate and loving words can save a relationship, it can be a healing process for some, it can break walls down, it can make people feel loved. Words can help people to start realizing their true worth and identity, their purpose. Words can speak life (or death).

For the immense power that words have, we definitely don’t use them to our advantage, or the advantage of others, enough. Words are a weapon that we should use more often. Speaking words of encouragement, kind words, comforting words WILL change a person’s life (and them).

Let’s commit to one compliment a day (not expecting it in return), and let’s see the change in the lives of those around us and the change in our relationships.
