After I’ve written yesterday’s blog, a dear friend messaged me, and to keep it short, the conclusion of the messages revealed that she didn’t know how much I valued her in my life and she had no idea of the impact she has on my life. I was really shocked – how didn’t she know?! (Maybe because I have never told her…)
I was shocked and amazed to see, once again, that those closest to us are sometimes the last ones to know how much we value and appreciate them.
How often do we tell others, and thank them, for who they are and what they mean to us. Do we do it once a year at a year-end function, a birthday, maybe at a family dinner or at new years? Imagine changing that and doing it on a weekly or daily basis.
Every time you really valued and appreciated what someone did, that they were there to give a hug or that they just listened, whatever it may be – how amazing would it be if we told them that, each time. It doesn’t even have to be complicated. It can simply be a message saying, “Thank you for the chat today, I really needed it. And thank you for who you are, I really appreciate you.”
Let’s make a committed decision to do it more often. I mean, let’s be real - I would really love it if people treated me like that more often, so why don’t I do it to them?
