We talk so much about faith, having faith, trusting God… and it is easy to start striving and living as if faith is the ultimate thing to have (or to exercise). Maybe I should change my name to “Living a life of love” – haha, it actually sounds very nice.
Hope… well I think this is the one, out of these 3, that gets spoken about the least.
And then there is love… which surpasses both faith and hope. So the answer: Love is the most important, it is greater than the other 2. And in my opinion, if it is greater than faith, then it is REALLY important - more important and life-changing than we realise.
1 Cor 13:13 (TPT) Until then, there are three things that remain: faith, hope, and love - yet love surpasses them all. So above all else, let love be the beautiful prize for which you run.
1 Cor 13:13 (AMP) And now there remain: faith [abiding trust in God and His promises], hope [confident expectation of eternal salvation], love [unselfish love for others growing out of God’s love for me], these three [the choicest graces]; but the greatest of these is love.
May LOVE become the ultimate goal. May we live with a vision of love and strive to run the race of love every day. May we strive to love ourselves as the gift God created us to be, and may we love others in that same way. May we do everything for love and out of love. May we learn how to love like Christ, so that the world will see Him through the way we love.
May we not just be known for our faith, obedience, mercy, kind heart, etc (all of these too), but ultimately, may we be known for our love – Christ’s love in and through us.
